Vulindlela
Every day, men from surrounding communities come to Westville centre looking for day jobs to support their families. Vulindlela (meaning “open the way” in isiZulu) seeks to change the narrative and make a difference in the lives of these men by providing a meal, work experience & training, and skills development, while also journeying along with participants as navigate family, parenting, faith and other challenges.
Topics Covered:
Local churches in Westville come together through Vulindlela to journey with job-seekers who are also fathers in order to help them to find their purpose in Christ, and also assist them through job readiness to become providers who are present fathers and protect their families.
Fathers Matter
Isiseko Imara partners with a South African non-profit organisation, Heartlines, through their initiative ‘Fathers Matter’, which seeks to build awareness and create a national conversation about why fathers matter in the lives of children, while also creating a supportive environment and sharing resources for organisations and churches to use to promote positive fatherhood. Isiseko Imara uses the Fathers Matter discussion starters and Connect Groups to facilitate conversations about fatherhood among young men and fathers in smaller group settings such as Vulindlela, Boys2Men camp, and other events.
